Friday, October 7 - Streets Of Philadelphia

WORD OF THE DAY:  burke\ BERK\ Audio icon • verb  *1 : to suppress quietly or indirectly  2 : bypass, avoid.

Music I'm Listening To Media Cover:

Streets of  Philadelphia

I was bruised and battered
And I couldn't tell what I felt
I was unrecognizable to myself
Saw my reflection in a window
I didn't know my own face

Oh brother are you gonna leave me wasting away
On the streets of Philadelphia

I walked the avenue till my legs felt like stone
I heard the voices of friends vanished and gone
At night I could hear the blood in my veins
Just as black and whispering as the rain
On the streets of Philadelphia

Ain't no angel gonna greet me
It's just you and I my friend
And my clothes don't fit me no more
I walked a thousand miles just to slip this skin

The night has fallen, I'm lyin' awake
I can feel myself fading away
So receive me brother with your faithless kiss
Or will we leave each other alone like this
On the streets of Philadelphia

Today I'm Grateful for: My health and the amazing strenght my body has!

Venice Italy: Carnivale Masks, Lace, Food, Murano Glass, and Yes, The Doge!

WORD OF THE DAY:  arboreal\ahr-BOR-ee-ul\ Audio icon • adjective  *1 : of, relating to, or resembling a tree 2 : inhabiting or frequenting trees .

Music I'm Listening To Media Cover:

This morning I received a phone message from my friend, Mario.  He's in town and I look forward to seeing him.  He's a nice man.  A very sexy Venetian.

Venice, Italy.  While I live in what is to me the most beautiful city in the world; Washington, DC.  Venice, Italy ranks #2 behind Washington.  Sydney, Australia comes in at #3.

I've spent quite a bit of time in Venice.  I find it fascinating to live in a city so un-modern, but yet modern.  Artists from prior centuries who drew, painted, sculpted, etc. views of Venice could today, return and it would be the same architecturally, for the most part.

Carnivale Masks:  I love Venetian Masks.  They are so expressive, flamboyant, lively, and yet can be mysterious and leave you puzzled; wanting to know more.  My favorite is the Dottore (Doctor) mask (below).

Rush hour on freeways is so commonplace in everyplace but Venice.  In Venice, rush hour is on the canals.  Most notably, the Grand Canal.  The freeways are paved with water.  The cars are boats.

Today I'm Grateful for: .This job.

Leather Masks

WORD OF THE DAY:  caterwaul\KAT-er-wawl\ Audio icon • verb  *1 : to make a harsh cry 2 : to protest or complain noisily .

The last time I was in Key West, FL, I purchased two of what I think are the coolest and most creative leather items.  I think the creativity is using leather as an artistic medium and all the demonic, surreal, fantasy, paranormal, etc elements the artist implements is unsurpassed.  The artist, Matthew Mansour may have copycats (is Kenny one?) but the copycats can only copy, they can't create an original Mansour mask.  Matthew's masks can be found at www.mansourdesigns.com.   I presently have these masks and hope to get more to add to my collection:  These are not "cheap" so my collection will take time to grow.

How Inconsiderate Can People Be

WORD OF THE DAY:  misbegotten\ miss-bih-GAH-tun\ Audio icon • adjective 1 : unlawfully conceived : illegitimate *2 : having a disreputable or improper origin 3 : contemptible, deformed.

Music I'm Listening To Media Cover:

 Songs About Me

I go this evening to look at more places.  What about that chick who scheduled me to come by to look at a place and before I can get there rents the joint.  OK thats cool by me.  No complaints.  But then she has the audacity to inform me that she is awaiting payment from the tenant but if the payment doesn't come through; then I can come by and take a look at the place.  HOW RUDE of her. To announce her decision prior to allowing all the scheduled appointments see the place.  That was a BIG RED FLAG.

This is similar to the job interview about 5 years or so ago. I went for this job interview and I must admit, it wasnt the most desirable position I qualified for.  When I called back at the day and time the HR manager asked me to and had indicated that would be the day the decision was made as to who'd be offered the job.  She had the nerve to say to me.  "Well Mr. X has decided to run the ad for 1 more week to see if he could more candidates.  Well thats all well and good.  No problem.  But to indicate to me as she did earlier, that I was one of two finalists, and then to say that to me was offensive.  I told her to keeplooking and withdraw my candidacy because I didn't need or want an employer who is so wishy-washy.

Today I'm Grateful for:  I had fun today.

Is It Possible To Return To the State of Tabula Rasa

WORD OF THE DAY:  Tabula Rasa\ tab-yuh-luh-RAH-zuh\ noun 1 : the mind in its hypothetical primary blank or empty state before receiving outside impressions  *2 : something existing in its original pristine state

.

More apartment searching today.  I looked at so freaking many yesterday.  Made so many phone calls that my phone battery died and I can't recharge it until I get to work on Monday morning.

I know many of us wish that we could somehow turn back time.  Maybe rethink decisions, choices, and actions.  But if we did that would that return us to what may be the state of fetushood.  If so, how would that help us?  Does the state of Coma, equate in any way to tabula rasa?  Alzheimers?  Based on my personal experiences death would not be tabula rasa since I believe and have ontological analysis that death is our life entering into the next dimension where all that our subconscious can acknowledge, our beliefs and values prohibit us from allowing that to occur.

What do you think?  I'd really love to know!

Today I'm Grateful for:  This beautiful day and that other job that I was supposed to begin tomorrow.

These Rental People

WORD OF THE DAY:  nemisis\  NEM-uh-siss\ Audio icon • noun 1 a : one that inflicts retribution or vengeance *b : a formidable and usually victorious rival or opponent  2 a : an act or effect of retribution b : a source of harm or ruin : curse .

WOW!  I can't get over how humiliating it is looking for a place to live.  Its like job hunting.  You have to make yourself more desirable than the rest.  But in this situation, you have no idea of the thinking of the person with whom you're interviewing.  So its always a shot in the dark and a long and toiling process.  I must say that I've not found one place that is really suitable in all the places I looked at yesterday and today.  Its either a chaotic mess of one kind or anohter, or its too far from the subway, questionable neighborhood in terms of safety, or just a down right dump for mega-bucks.  I sure hope I find something FAST that is just right or as close to "Just Right" as possible.  I feel like I'm in front of my nemisis, an HR Weenie trying to win them over.  SUCKS!  But I must perservere.  I will and I'll be quite successful.

Today I'm Grateful for:  Sandy.

3 Day Weekends are ____ Thanks John P.

WORD OF THE DAY: postulate\ PAHSS-chuh-layt \ verb 1 : demand, claim *2 a : to assume or claim as true, existent, or necessary : depend upon or start from the hypothesis of b : to assume as an established truth (as in logic or mathematics)

Here I sit in Dupont Circle on a Friday at 8:00am watching all the people scurrying to their offices to toil and be tired at 5:00pm.  I'm off today, like I am every Friday. THANK YOU JOHN L. PETERSEN for providing such a luxurious benefit to your employees.  It is such an insightful idea and makes so much sense.  Most employers would postulate the concept of such a priceless benefit is ludicrous..

Today, is one gorgeous day.  Sun is bright, air is brisk, and while my fingertips are chilled here typing, OMG, it feels wonderful to know I don't have to go to my employer and ask for time off during my work week to acccomplish personal business that I need to do during business hours.

I stopped at Starbucks for a Venti DeCaf-double cup and sleeve.  Then headed out across the street to the Circle (fountain of beautiful sea faring/oriented men is off for the season so there's no sound of water falling) to search the internet for apartments, flats, rooms, etc here in DC.  I have a 10:30 haircut appointment with Linda.  Its long overdue.  I think I look like a bum with this long un-coiffed hair.

I like this new FREE WIFI here in Dupont Circle. I had read about it in the Post, but never tried it until today.  PRETTY NICE!

Today I'm Grateful for:  Sitting here in Dupont Circle on this beautiful Fall Friday morning hedonistically and voluptoriously indulging in this luxury.

Fall Is In The Air

WORD OF THE DAY:  frugal\ FROO-gul\ adjective : characterized by or reflecting economy in the use of resources.

WOW!  Today is payday!  My first full paycheck since I started with TAI in mid-September.  I wish there was some left over, but there won’t be since I have to pay both mortgages, insurance, etc.  When I need to be, I can be one frugal man.  Actually its something that I find satisfying and rewarding.  I’m always very frugal when it comes to making large purchases.  I do my homework and set out to get the best for the least price.  Hopefully this weekend I’ll have a new residence, thanks to the support of my UNQUESTIONABLY, BEST FRIEND IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, the Queensland Tango Babe from Down Under and my physical and emotional efforts.  The emotional ones I suppose were the most important of my doings.  I just kept thinking positive thoughts and its true the power of positive thinking RULES!

I see that lying, cheating, mean, mistreating, multi-timing, double dealing, unloving FART, Snowpea has moved ON!  She’s now supposedly in California pursuing the Great California Gold Rush, or as it would be in her case.  (She’s working on draining millions from another kind, innocent, unselfish, sharing, caring, loving, generous, and sincere hearted man; like she did to me).  I don’t know the man she’s chasing, but I would assume my characterization of him is somewhat correct since Snowpea wouldn’t chase after something she’s not going to be successful with.  She’s a clever old rickshaw peddling scallywag.  She’s quite precise with her plotting, ploys, and schemes.  I pity the guy when he gets the shaft like me.

What was it that I saw in her child-bearing ass anyway?  Maybe it was because the sex was good,  but then she turned that into malicious, mean-spirited, and selfish acts with total disregard to me, my safety, welfare, or life.  To answer the question, I seen nothing but BAD from the get go, but being the fair, and unselfish man I am, gave the benefit of my doubts.  My doubts were right all along and I know to give my gut more credence now; and $300,000.00 later.

After I get an apartment, and repay a debt which is paramount above all else except shelter, food, and medicine; I’ll begin to look at buying another car.  I miss my Mercedes E-320 so bad. I loved that car.  It was such a quality car and it would have lasted me for years to come.  I took such great care of it too.  I didn’t owe a single penny for it and for that I was proud of myself.  Now, I’ll have to go out and buy one to replace it, where I had to sell it to survive, and will have to do so on credit.  I dread that, but I have to have a car and that’s the only way I can get one unless I can somehow manage to do without one until I can get money saved for about 8-12 months.

Today I'm Grateful for:  This full paycheck.  Its somewhat like taking a big deep breath.  Thank you John, Suzanne, and TAI.  Thank me, Martin for keeping my faith in myself and my existence.

Fortune Cookies

gloaming\ GLOH-ming\ Audio icon • noun : twilight, dusk

What a beautiful song.  Moving.  Every time I listen to it my eyes swell with tears of pride.

This post is entitled "Fortune Cookies" because of the fortune notes I received in 3 recent fortune cookies I ate from City Lights last night.  I've asked Harold here at work to scan them into a file which I can post here.  Once I get them back, I'll post them.  They fit right into my philosophies.

Here's the Fortune Cookies:

I was thinking last night after work and on my way home that adjusting to these 4 10-hour work days are really adjusting me to the gloaming work day's end.

Today I'm Grateful for:  DWhat in the world would I have done without Sandy.  She's is the best friend myself or anyone could ever have.  She sure has put her money where her mouth is when it comes to her love for me.  Im glad this is mutual.  Its so comforting to know I'm so loved, eventhough at times I can't feel love or think noone loves me.

Settling In

clarion\ KLAIR-ee-un\ Audio icon • adjective : brilliantly clear; also : loud and clear

I think I'm beginning to settle into this job here at TAI.  Everyone seems quite nice and I like the work and my boss, John.  He's a horse of a different color and so am I.  I believe my careful and close analysis of the pending job offer, helps me to make a clarion choice to decline it.

Today I'm Grateful for:  This job with TAI and John, Suzanne, Ken, and all my other colleagues.

What a Weekend! That Damn Boil...

homologate\hoh-MAH-luh-gayt\ Audio icon • verb: sanction, allow; especially : to approve or confirm officially

...left my ass in the hospital getting infusions of IV antibiotics.  IT SUCKED OUT THE ASS!  I suppose having to do that just homologated my percieved need to get to the doctor before those red streaks went to my lymph nodes and caused blood poisioning.

Today I'm Grateful for:  This job with TAI and John, Suzanne, Ken, and all my other colleagues.  These people here are seemingly quite nice and genuine.

Boiling Sure Is A Nasty Mess

simpatico\sim-PAH-tih-koh\ Audio icon • adjective  1 : agreeable, likeable  *2 : being on the same wavelength : congenial, sympathetic

The boil has boiled over and made a big NASTY MESS!.  I went to Dr. Sathasivam today and she gave me some antibiotics and a order to go to the ER to have an IV antibiotic infusion.

It was nice to chat with Joe for a few minutes this morning.  He's such a nice man and I'm fortunate to know him.  I wish I were able to have chatted longer but, I was in the middle of getting John, my boss off to Copenhagen, Athens, Columbus, and Lansing.

Today finishes week-2 of the new job  I was hoping to go to Bristol after the ER Episode, but that didn't work out.

Today I'm Grateful for:  Dr. Sathasivam and her nurse Sharon for taking their time to doctor my boiling mess when they were NOT seeing patients.

The Boil Boiled Over

puerile\ puerile • \PYUR-ul\ Audio icon • adjective 1 : juvenile*2 : childish, silly

Damn, this boil is a pain.  One of the worst I've ever had.  I can't wait until it heals.  I feel like shit today and trying to do my work.  If you've never had one of these damn things, then you'd probably think I'm being puerile in my inability to tolerate its uncomfortableness.

Today I'm Grateful for:  The time Jeff and I spent recently where we were able to sit down and have lunch together without anxiety on either's behalf.  I think my withholding his cell phone has helped aleviate some of the aggravation I hold for him at times.

A Nasty Boil

copacetic\\koh-puh-SET-ik\ Audio icon • adjective : very satisfactory

Well, if I accept that job with DA, I will only get paid on the 10th of each month, and meaning as a new employee, if I were to begin on October 3, I wouldn't get paid until Novermber 10.  That sucks as I'm looking for a flat.

Today I'm Grateful for:  Both Suzanne and John ORDERING me to go to my doctor to get this infection on my arm seen about.  Its really nasty and could possibly set up blood poisioning.

The Phone Message

coquetry\KOH-kuh-tree\ Audio icon • noun : a flirtatious act or attitude

11:15AM
I received a phone message this morning from Wendy at DA.  She called around 8:30.  I haven't returned her call yet.  I wonder; its it a job offer, a question, or what?  I have some nervous energy about it but confident it is good.  I'm being just a bit coquetry with my friend Randy.  He's such a good looking man and has a great personality and character.

2:00PM
The call from Wendy, it was ...................another job offer.

Today I'm Grateful for:  The kindness and positive support of the guys at the Palais du Couchon.

Crystal Balls

thaumaturgy\THAW-muh-ter-jee\ Audio icon • noun : the performance of miracles; specifically : magic

I left the temp-perm assignment at Amgen Pharmaceuticals and its "posh" work environment.  There were two determining factors in my doing so.  The first and to me, most important is; when I was asked to formally apply for the position, I did.  During that process, I learned the "Grade 4" (highest level in that job function) position which I accepted as a temporary employee, had been downgraded to a Grade 3 and then the following day to a Grade 2.  This was rather concerning to me since at the time I entered into the position it was made clear to me the position was a Grade 4, with my predecessor being a Grade 4 employee.  I was further informed of the importance that I perform as a Grade 4 employee; which I did so successfully.  To put this in a concrete perspective the position's pay is as follows:  Grade 4 - $80,000 - $100,000/yr,  Grade 3 - $60,000 - $80,000/yr, and Grade 2 $40,000 -$60,000/yr.  The downgrading required the same level of work performance, but with each grade reduction the education and years of experience were reduced.  While I believe thiswas NOT directed at me personally, I did cause me to not have access to bonafide earning potential.  Most importantly, I found it to be a symbol of comprimised integrity of Amgen.  Basically a classic "bait and switch" scheme.  The 2nd reason for my leaving Amgen, is that I was offered a job with a nice salary with this National Strategy group (a crew of Ontologists) fulfilling DOD contracts.  I completed my first week with them on Thursday (yes a 4 day workweek of 10 hours each day).  I think it'll be fine, but I must admit its kinda weird working in that field.  Its like national security seen through a crystal ball.  Each of the first 4 days made me feel as though I was on my way to becoming a thaumaturgologist.  I'm very adaptive and I'll adapt soon.

Today I'm Grateful for:  Being here in Bristol with H.R.M. Queen Halena Slopoflopolopolous.

WOW! Its Been A While Since I've Added To My Blog

anthophilous\an-THAH-fuh-lus\ adjective : feeding upon or living among flowers

WOW,  Well where do I begin.  Its been several days since I've added to my blog.  Its either been because I've been too busy from work and when I'd go home in the evening, I'd fall sound asleep, or I was a Le Palais du Couchon avec mes amis living my anthophilous life as it relates to swine!  We might wallow around in a flower or flower bed, but most likely would eat them.

Anyhow, I've not yet received a job offer from HK, but I'm promised one.  DA also remains most interested in me.  Its uncanny, how I'm not really concerned as I really like it here at AG.  My boss is so cool, he likes me and vice versa.  I just would prefer it now to become permanent with benefits.  If I were offered a job here, I'd probably accept it.

As for the landlord, a tornado came last Friday night, I slept right through it, but it ripped the roof right off the house.  I don't wish anyone bad luck or the such, but these idiots got an overdue karma repayment.  I've actually never seen people conduct themselves like they are because I refuse to a $400/month rent increase.  Yes my place may be worth it, but under DC law they're only allowed a 3% increase.  My present rent is $800, therefore, they're allowed a $24.00 increase.  Thats a far cry from $400.  Additionally under DC code, only a landlord can petition the court.  Therefore, I withheld my rent to have my day in court. That day is tomorrow.  Meanwhile, they have threatened me, tried to coerce me, attempted to impede access I have right to under my lease.  But I'm a strong Taurian bull.  I don't give in, or up.  Now they're just pissed.  Do I care?  NOT!

Today I'm Grateful for:  FOR THIS JOB, STILL.

5-Day Weekend

germane \jer-MAYN\ • adjective : being at once relevant and appropriate : fitting

This was day 6 on my new job.  Today begins my 5 day Fourth of July holiday with my new temporary employer.  I think they like me a lot.  I know my boss is just too cool for school.  So are the other two people who I work closely with.  Jewel, is a simply that.  Hilary is Hogan & Hartson breakaway lawyer, and Donna, she's too bourgie!  But you'd never know it by her physiognomy.  I think it happen just like at PWC, I went in on a temporary contract basisi and ended up staying 12 years.  After just 5 days there I got a job offer and they told me if I wanted to stay at PWC, just to go to HR and let them know what my salary would be.  I can stay if I want.  No matter what the cost.

I expect offers from HK, and DA.   Possibly another one from an NGO.  I was told I was the leading candidate in all three.  So that'll come soon probably.  If AM asks me to stay and the salary and title are right, I will.  These people are great.  My office is beautiful. My schedule is great and my boss himself told me to work hard, but not harder than I have too.  So....

Today I'm Grateful for:  FOR THIS JOB.

June 29 - Surprise Surprise

apposite \AP-uh-zit\ • adjective : highly pertinent or appropriate : apt

This is day 5 of my new job.    WOW!  Guess what!  You know PWC was my favorite job of all.  I loved working with all those true experts.  Some of the worlds most recognized economists, lawyers, and tax and financial experts.  I'm really loving my new job too.

Surprise. Surprise.  Today I learned 3 of my former coworkers at PWC are at AM.  All three of them were some of my best colleagues at PWC.  They were all so happily surprised to see me again.  Evenmore so to have the opportunity to work with me again.  In a way, I feel like I'm home again.  I have been somewhat homesick for PWC eversince I left there in 2001.  I know I just don't have it in me to return there and go at it like I used too.

Today I'm Grateful for:  My new job.

June 28 - A Thanalogic Epiphany!

Thanatology \than-uh-TAH-luh-jee\ • noun : the description or study of the phenomena of death and of psychological mechanisms for coping with them

Death:  An ominous reminder of our own mortality, it challenges us to celebrate life, to experience the present as though we were taking our last breath.

This is day 4 at my new job.  Today, Cheryl messaged me.  She's so spirited and happy. I never knew she was family.  Until she indirectly disclosed it to me.  She such a beautiful woman.  Inside and out.  She referred to me in an endearing manner in her email message to me today.  I'm impressed with her strength.  I can relate to her in many ways.  Especially events of my last 6 months of 2005.

I emailed her today's word.  For as much as I have studied the topic, I never knew of the term Thanatology.  I sure have a new perspective on it since October 20, 1998.

Cheryl's somewhat my cheerleader at work.

Today I'm Grateful for:  For my new job.

June 27 A Monday Morning Panick Attack

imbricate \IM-bruh-kayt\ • verb : overlap; especially : to overlap like roof tiles

Today is day 3 of my new job.  Since my job is so close by, I've been walking or takign the subway.  I rarely take the subway because of my Panic Disorder.  This morning, I had a Panic Attack on the Subway and just as I was on my way out of the Gallery Place station, Jeff calls and just throws 1 million gallons of fuel on the fire.  OMG, it wasn't a nice thing. I arrived at the office freaking and trying to be cool.  I was wringing wet with sweat and rain.

Today I'm Grateful for:

Sunday, June 26, 2005 "The Crying Game"

monger \MUNG-gur\ • noun 1 : broker, dealer—usually used in combination
*2 : a person who attempts to stir up or spread something that is usually petty or discreditable—usually used in combination

The Crying Game

I know all there is to know about the crying game
I’ve had my share of the crying game

First there are kisses, then there are sighs
And then before you know where you are
You’re sayin’ goodbye

One day soon I’m gonna tell the moon about the crying game
And if he knows maybe he’ll explain

Why there are heartaches, why there are tears
And what to do to stop feeling blue
When love disappears

I know all there is to know about the crying game
I’ve had my share of the crying game

First there are kisses, then there are sighs
And then before you know where you are
You’re sayin’ goodbye

Don’t want no more of the crying game
Don’t want no more of the crying game
Don’t want no more of the crying game
Don’t want no more of the crying game

Today I'm Grateful for:  My new job.

Bristol, VA/TN A Tale of Two Cities!

Pyrric  \PEER-ik\ • adjective : achieved at excessive cost; also : costly to the point of negating or outweighing expected benefits

Bristol, VA/TN.   A city sitting directly on the border of two states.  Tennessee and Virginia.  This place is my close by to my hometown, Mendota, VA.  When I was a kid and we "went to town", it was either to Bristol or Abingdon, VA.  We were poor in terms of money.  But rich in values, ethics, and spirit.

When I left Bristol nearly 25 years ago. I never looked back.  I was in a sense running from what is was my past and towards what is now my future.  Had anyone ever said to me at that time, or even 5 years ago that Bristol would be part of my future, I'd have probably laughed and shrugged it off as nonsense.

In the last few years a spark; an undying ember, has revived itself in my soul and now I own a home there, which I purchased without it being something in the family.  I love my home there and one day soon, I hope to set up my new business there and operate it out of my home.  That business would be a 501(c)(3) organization focusing on the plight of rural poor and the obstacles they face from childhood, adulthood, and as families.  I hope to be able to make a contribution to make this socio-economic sitiuation better for underpriviledged folks in the future.  I hope I can make it happen.

June 23 Thursday DAY 1 at AM

advertent  \ad-VER-tunt\ • adjective : giving attention : heedful

Today is the first day of my new job.  I'm nervous and not too confident based on what all I've been through lately in terms of work.  I hope it works out for what it is.  I'm going in with a positive attitude, outlook, and mindset.  I'm going to work hard and give my best.  Like with PWC, if my best isn't good enough, then I can't say I failed.

Today I'm Grateful for:  This new temporary job.

Dirt Roads

NOTE:  This post is actually taking place on September 29, 2005.  This information is current as of this date.  This page was an empty page and its contents are "fill" for this particular vacant page.

I recall growing up in Appalachia; Southwest Virginia.  Specifically Mendota, VA located in WashingtonCounty.  I read this article that appeared today on the online version of The Bristol Herald Courier; the major local newspaper.  This article speaks of the dislike and lack of safety dirt roads affect.  I recall just simply hating those damn dirt roads.  You could never keep your car clean even in a drought.  Oh My God, when it rained, your car had just taken a mud bath.  Add to that the loose gravel that would be thrown around.  You could have a new car and in sight of 3 months, its paint would be chipped making it look 10 years old or older.

Here’s the copy and paste of the newspaper article to today’s Bristol Herald Courier:

Unpaved Roads

Bill Christian

News Channel 11

Sep 28 7:13PM EDT

There are several unpaved roads in the Tri-Cities area. In Washington County Virginia, homeowners living along  Whitaker Hollow Road are concerned for their safety.  "There is going to be a accident. It's going to be a loss of life." Said Wendy Harman, Washington County VAHomeowner.  Whitaker Hollow road is very narrow and dusty. It's one of several roads on a six-year plan by Washington County Virginia Commissioners scheduled to be paved.    "This road was added to the six year plan in 2004 and it has a position on the plan." Said Christy Parker, Assistant Washington County Virginia Administrator.  Money from the Virginia Department of Transportation is being used to make this road tolerable for the people who live here. It was recently graded and smoothed out, but Wendy Harman and others here say more must be done to make their road safer.  "This time we are not going to stop, we can't. It may be our life, our children's lives, it may be our friends." Said Evelyn Goodson, =Washington County Virginia Homeowner.

County officials say they are aware of the concerns by citizens, but will not move one road ahead of another on the six year plan. They say each road has been carefully examined to determine which ones are in the worst shape.  It's expected to be several years before construction would begin on  Whitaker Hollow Road. County officials say there are many roads in the County that are not on the six year repair plan because a lack of funding.

An Easter At RJ's

This particular Easter, was in 2003, I believe.  My friend, RJ Pugh invited me, Sandy, and several other friends over for Easter dinner.  There I met Mike and some of RJ's other friends.  We had a wonderful dinner and enjoyed each other's company and freindship.

Winters In Washington

Wintertime in Washington can be, well usually is, two things.  One being BEAUTIFUL, and the other being BITE ASS COLD.  Especially January 1-March 31.  The pics in this posting are of my house and my street.

I Begin Work!

brobdingnagian \brob-ding-NAG-ee-un\  adjective : marked by tremendous size

Next Tuesday June 21 I have another interview with HK.  I look so forward to it.  Then next Thursday, June 23, I begin work at AG Pharma, one of the world's largest and most profitable pharmaceutical companies.  NO, I WONT BE A PHARMACOLOGICAL ENGINEER, but I will be the Special Assistant to the CEO.  Its rather uncanny how this position has come before me.  I've wanted to apply to the pharmaceutical companies in Bristol for a long time as they are the only companies there which will pay my standard of salary. So if I had a position at one of those companies, then I'd be able to fully move to Bristol and live my good life easily.  NOW, to this position at AG Pharma.  It is a 1 year temporary assisgnment.  This allows me to gain some industry jargon and knowledge on a first hand basis and gives me professional experience in that particular industry directly.  The pay rate is just shy of what I would ask if I were a regular full-time employee.  The brobdingnagian offices, OMG, they are the epitime of bourgie!  I will accept this position and both the employer and I have agreed that it is acceptable for me to continue to interview since this position is classified as "temporary".  However, it can be "permanent" provided......  While I perform the duties of this job, I'll continue to look, and in the meantime, if I dont find something sooner, then later will be just fine too.  Im delighted to have been offered this position given recent hard times.  It so peculiar how it seemed during the interview processes, to fit both parties mutually well from all angles.

Now, everyone NO MORE CROSSING FINGERS, they'll only bring me bad luck.  I sure can't let this one get jinxed.  I don't want a repeat Fontheim.

Thanks everyone for each and every bit of support, kindness, love, and guidance that each of you provided to me recently.  No matter how large or small, it all receives equal heartfelt, endearing, and appreciative gratefulness without prejudice of any kind.

It is my friends, whom I truly LOVE.  BLESS EACH OF YOU!

Today I'm Grateful for:  My friends who have stood by me during the past several months and helped me cope.

DC Pride 2005 - Saturday, Day 2

scion \SYE-un\ • noun  1 : a detached living portion of a plant (as a bud or shoot) joined to a stock in grafting and usually supplying solely aerial parts to a graft  *2 : descendant, child; especially : a descendant of a wealthy, aristocratic, or influential family  3 : heir

When I read today's word, the immediate thought that comes to mind is SNOWP, under meaning 2.  Specifically, her proclaimation that she's from an aristocratic German family.  BULLSHIT!  She's a scion alright.  A scion of P.W.T.

I wonder what lies she told for day 2 of DC Pride?  I rested, slept, and depression did its thing.
