Tonight's the night for those bitchy witches to come out of their drag closets, and perform the "creme de le creme" of ultimate races, one which the Indy 500, NASCAR, and others can't hold a pump to. Prada pump that is; as in high performance high heels.
Its raining this morning but supposed to clear off by afternoon. So tonight 17th Street should be all a buzz with drag queens and drag queen wanna-bees. There'll even be the lesbians who frequently parade their "butch attire". There is one lesbian who has been at all the last races I've attended as a spectator. She's may be Polynesian, but she really pulls off her costume, or lack thereof. She wears not much more than a leather strap, barely providing enough coverage to avoid a citation for indecent exposure.
This drag race is the most popular event in the city for Halloween. Seventeenth street is packed with party revelers; including friends, partners, and parents cheering on their filial offspring to GO GO GO!. This event is even more popular than Georgetown, street masqauarade. I don't think that the High Heel Race has ever had any episodes of violence; making it a fun, safe, and full-spirited event.
